Study Tarot

I have been interested in tarot ever since I learned that one of my friend's mother did readings. I was in junior high and thought this was so weird. There was always part of me that really wanted a reading but I could never ask her and she never offered.

I started trying to read myself a few years later but each time I would read something that I didn't like. This scared me and I would always put the cards away for a few months. After a particularly disturbing reading after college which I though was predicting the break up of me and my husband I put the cards away and I still have no idea where they are. (My husband and I are still together but he did go to Indonesia for several months shortly after the reading).

I have gotten over my fear of tarot by realizing that tarot taps into our intuition and often allow us to hear the good advice our brains have been trying to give us.

I have decided to try again to learn tarot and my goal is to be able to do an amature reading by Halloween, a month and a half away.

I started my re-exploration of tarot with a great website: www.llewellyn.com. This site offers free readings online with various tarot decks and layouts. Whether you think you can have an accurate reading through an online source or not, this site is definitely helpful for trying to memorize cards.


Today's Reading

Past Card: Seven of Wands - Keywords: aggression, defiance, conviction
I believe this reading is focusing on work. I have been working on a new Internet marketing protocol to introduce spas to mystery shopping. I have had to defend the efficacy of this with the sales team and with my boss who likes to focus on cold calls. The new clients I have signed recently has quelled the attacks against this method recently.

Present: Knight of Swords - Reversed - Keywords: Blunt, Overbearing, cutting, opinionated, unfeeling
The notes for this were that I need to make sure I don't miss new developments in the situation. I am taking this to heart and trying to keep my eyes open at work and with my relationships. I have recently tried to take a step back from work and focus more on my self, my friends and my family.

Future: Ten of Pentacles - Keywords: Affluence, Permanence, Convention
I'm hoping this means the new protocol will work to increase awareness of mystery shopping and of our company amongst spas and bring in some additional clients. The notes also said I will be ready to move on to something new. That is my modus of operandi, once I have figured something out and it is no longer a challenge I'm ready to move on. This project has been a really fascinating puzzle to find out what gets the interest of spa owners and directors.
